Ja Ja Ja Jaded

The more I research and come to an understanding of this problem, the more I can't help but wonder why ALL Americans aren't up in arms, pounding on doors, tying up the phone lines, and in any way available demanding from our elected officials an honest answer to the mess they created. From the housing/mortgage debacle, to banks going under because of it, to our borders not being secured, to these idiots in elected positions demanding rights for illegals...it goes on and on and it is all entwined in an incredibly deceptive web of lies, back room deals, and crooked men/women getting rich off the back of the taxpayers. While we are awash in the financial storm which is sublimly worsened by the drive by media, I can't help but wonder when China will decide to cash in the US Treasury Bonds they have bought up in the millions, when the terrorists will decide to strike again because we are so immersed in this mess we are taking our eyes off the target, or when Russia will make it's next move towards retaking it's former glory and land holdings thus moving one step closer towards it's hidden goal of smashing the West.

Okay, maybe I sound paranoid, but mark my words, something big along these lines will happen. While our leaders are scratching their heads and backsides trying to figure out how best to socialize our country, our enemies are biding their time, planning their next move, and patiently waiting for a perfect check mate. Maybe, just maybe, they (vague I know but use your imagination here) even helped to create this financial mess knowing it would be to their advantage. Our congretional leaders need to let the economy be. It will correct itself. That is the brilliance of a capitalist society. We may suffer a bit in the interrim, but it will survive, we will survive, and we must send Washington a strong message that we don't want to bail out criminals, we want them sent to jail. Anyone remember Enron here?

Get the investigations going. Find out who did what illegally, make sure they pay, let their companies go under, new ones will come along to replace them. Put people in jail, pray we can have an honest man (or woman) or two voted into office who will correct this wrong without socializing our economy and asking us to foot the bill yet again. Close down our borders, get strict on repatriating the illegals already here, clean up the mess, and don't gripe to me about civil rights for non-citizens. Credit isn't a civil right, marriage isn't a civial right. The government CANNOT guarantee prosperity. All is can and should do is guarantee you the individual right to seek out that prosperity. To make it happen for yourself, for your family, through hard work and effort.

THEY GAVE YOUR MORTGAGE TO A LESS QUALIFIED MINORITYSeptember 24, 2008On MSNBC this week, Newsweek's Jonathan Alter tried to connect John McCain to the current financial disaster, saying: "If you remember the Keating Five scandal that (McCain) was a part of. ... He's really getting a free ride on the fact that he was in the middle of the last great financial scandal in our country." McCain was "in the middle of" the Keating Five case in the sense that he was "exonerated." The lawyer for the Senate Ethics Committee wanted McCain removed from the investigation altogether, but, as The New York Times reported: "Sen. McCain was the only Republican embroiled in the affair, and Democrats on the panel would not release him." So John McCain has been held hostage by both the Viet Cong and the Democrats. Alter couldn't be expected to know that: As usual, he was lifting material directly from Kausfiles. What is unusual was that he was stealing a random thought sent in by Kausfiles' mother, who, the day before, had e-mailed: "It's time to bring up the Keating Five. Let McCain explain that scandal away." The Senate Ethics Committee lawyer who investigated McCain already had explained that scandal away -- repeatedly. It was celebrated lawyer Robert Bennett, most famous for defending a certain horny hick president a few years ago. In February this year, on Fox News' "Hannity and Colmes," Bennett said, for the eight billionth time: "First, I should tell your listeners I'm a registered Democrat, so I'm not on (McCain's) side of a lot of issues. But I investigated John McCain for a year and a half, at least, when I was special counsel to the Senate Ethics Committee in the Keating Five. ... And if there is one thing I am absolutely confident of, it is John McCain is an honest man. I recommended to the Senate Ethics Committee that he be cut out of the case, that there was no evidence against him." It's bad enough for Alter to be constantly ripping off Kausfiles. Now he's so devoid of his own ideas, he's ripping off the idle musings of Kausfiles' mother. Even if McCain had been implicated in the Keating Five scandal -- and he wasn't -- that would still have absolutely nothing to do with the subprime mortgage crisis currently roiling the financial markets. This crisis was caused by political correctness being forced on the mortgage lending industry in the Clinton era. Before the Democrats' affirmative action lending policies became an embarrassment, the Los Angeles Times reported that, starting in 1992, a majority-Democratic Congress "mandated that Fannie and Freddie increase their purchases of mortgages for low-income and medium-income borrowers. Operating under that requirement, Fannie Mae, in particular, has been aggressive and creative in stimulating minority gains." Under Clinton, the entire federal government put massive pressure on banks to grant more mortgages to the poor and minorities. Clinton's secretary of Housing and Urban Development, Andrew Cuomo, investigated Fannie Mae for racial discrimination and proposed that 50 percent of Fannie Mae's and Freddie Mac's portfolio be made up of loans to low- to moderate-income borrowers by the year 2001. Instead of looking at "outdated criteria," such as the mortgage applicant's credit history and ability to make a down payment, banks were encouraged to consider nontraditional measures of credit-worthiness, such as having a good jump shot or having a missing child named "Caylee." Threatening lawsuits, Clinton's Federal Reserve demanded that banks treat welfare payments and unemployment benefits as valid income sources to qualify for a mortgage. That isn't a joke -- it's a fact. When Democrats controlled both the executive and legislative branches, political correctness was given a veto over sound business practices. In 1999, liberals were bragging about extending affirmative action to the financial sector. Los Angeles Times reporter Ron Brownstein hailed the Clinton administration's affirmative action lending policies as one of the "hidden success stories" of the Clinton administration, saying that "black and Latino homeownership has surged to the highest level ever recorded." Meanwhile, economists were screaming from the rooftops that the Democrats were forcing mortgage lenders to issue loans that would fail the moment the housing market slowed and deadbeat borrowers couldn't get out of their loans by selling their houses. A decade later, the housing bubble burst and, as predicted, food-stamp-backed mortgages collapsed. Democrats set an affirmative action time-bomb and now it's gone off. In Bush's first year in office, the White House chief economist, N. Gregory Mankiw, warned that the government's "implicit subsidy" of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, combined with loans to unqualified borrowers, was creating a huge risk for the entire financial system. Rep. Barney Frank denounced Mankiw, saying he had no "concern about housing." How dare you oppose suicidal loans to people who can't repay them! The New York Times reported that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were "under heavy assault by the Republicans," but these entities still had "important political allies" in the Democrats. Now, at a cost of hundreds of billions of dollars, middle-class taxpayers are going to be forced to bail out the Democrats' two most important constituent groups: rich Wall Street bankers and welfare recipients. Wow, this man is unbelievable!!! Yes, I mean Obama. Arrogant, socialist, and demagogue all come to mind when I think of him. Why won't he just produce the document and put the issue to rest? Read the story. You'll see that this is a lawsuit brought by a Clinton supportor. I don't like the tactics/strategies of the Clintons either, but they are usually right about these types of things. I'm sure they've spent lots of money to find the evidence.

Not Feeling Well

Dan had a horrible sinus infection that has moved to his chest. He has now shared it with mom and Jake. Sigh....head hurts, throat hurts, feeling blah. Joy.

I think Dan and Paige must be channeling. At least he isn't into eating weird things, just smearing them all over everywhere. Took this picture of him yesterday. Here is my make up bag when he was finished. The last picture is of my most recent antique store find. It's not an original by the artist from the 1700's, but someone took a print of the artwork and raised it by cutting out certain parts and shellacking it. It is in a very old frame, so I don't really know how old it is, it just caught my eye and looks nice in my bedroom. Plus it was under $35. Not too shabby.

So, apparently, the couple with sooo much more experience than the Republican candidates know their history well. Besides coming out and saying an Obama ad against McCain was "terrible" and he would never have allowed it if he had known about it, he also has rewritten history so that now President Roosevelt was in office during the first great stock market crash, and everyone had TV sets to watch him, in 1929!!!! For crying out loud. This is definitly who I want running my country!!! (On a side note...knowing the libs out there who write history books for our public schools we all better be really concerned about this really being written as factual history)

Joe Biden's denunciation of his own campaign's ad to Katie Couric got so much attention last night that another odd note in the interview slipped by.

He was speaking about the role of the White House in a financial crisis.

"When the stock market crashed, Franklin Roosevelt got on the television and didn't just talk about the princes of greed," Biden told Couric. "He said, 'Look, here's what happened.'"

As Reason's Jesse Walker footnotes it: "And if you owned an experimental TV set in 1929, you would have seen him. And you would have said to yourself, 'Who is that guy? What happened to President Hoover?'"

That's Just Life

Yes Daniel, thank-you. That is exactly where I wanted my foundation, smeared all over the carpet in my closet. Oh, and yes, that is where I wanted my lip gloss, smeared all over the walls and TV upstairs. Thank you child.

We are off to the laundry mat to try and catch up on the about 10 loads of laundry I am now behind on. The house came with a new '08 Kenmore HE2T front loader that decided on Sat to give me an error code and not work. After looking up reviews about this washer I can't imagine why the previous owners purchased this one. Nothing put complaints and problems. Hopefully we will get through this one with little out of pocket expense and avoid another one for a very long time. Otherwise I might be chucking it out of the window, so to speak. Man, they are heavier than a traditional top loader. Which, I just gave away my Maytag to some lady who was supposed to call me to clean my house in return for a washer/dryer/tv stand/bakers rack. Have I heard from her...no. No big surpirse there. Try to do something nice for someone. Oh well. That's just life.

I Knew There Was a Good Reason

I was wondering the other day why the Democrats use the donkey as a symbol for their party. Surely it had to be because they are all stupid jacka**es, and sure enough, that is the reason it was first used. Why they would stick with something intended to be a put down is beyond me.

Yes, please. Take more than the 50% you are already taking out of our paycheck and redistribute my wealth to those who didn't make the same life choices as us. It will definitely make me feel more patriotic. Never mind that we already give 10% on top of what uncle sam takes, to our church. Our church does a much better job of redistributing that voluntary contribution than the gov't has or ever will do with what they forcibly take from us. Let's be honest with each other Mr. Biden and Obama. The patriotic thing to do would be to give FULL disclosure of your income and what percentage you pay in taxes on ALL of your income. Let's be brutally honest. The MOST patriotic thing to do would be to be accountable to your constituents for the lousy job you have done of using the revenues you have collected in the past and to be honest with what you are going to do with them in the future. Instead of lining your own pocket's leave the money with the people who earned it and let them invest it into the economy which you have managed to send into a downward spiral. Use the money to make the gov't smaller, not to create more oversight committees that already don't work. Certainly not to create more bureaucracy. DEFINITELY not to make our REPUBLIC a socialized mess. I don't need you taking more of my hard earned money to give to someone who makes less than me. Teach them how to live within their means. Teach them how to budget and use what they do earn wisely. Teach them to be accountable for their choices in life, not that if you don't make as much as the wealthier in the community that it will be okay because the gov't will take it from them just like Robin Hood, and give them what they haven't earned. Thanks for the civics lesson in patriotism. I really feel more patriotic than ever when I envision you and your running mate leading our country.

Oh yes, Joe Biden. Stealing from the right to feed the left, while using both hands to line your own pockets is definitely patriotic. Geez, how did I miss that in my history/political science courses? You stupid ass.

Also the pantry, with Daniel busy in his newest hobby of taking anything he can smear such as lotion, peanut butter, etc. and hiding behind the pantry door while he smears away on the wall, floor, and door. The Wizard King

Daniel cracks us all up, which is mostly good, since we might murder him otherwise as he is not anything near a terrible two. He is much closer to a tyrannical three. He can't pronounce his L's properly so lizard becomes wizard. He loves to catch them. Poor lizards usually loose their tails, and then sigh, if mom doesn't rescue them, their lives. May they rest in peace. He's also good at catching the baby frogs that are smaller than a dime. Yesterday he put on my cowboy boots and clomped around in them. It is too cute as Wade's mom has a picture of him in his dad's boots looking much the same. Boys will be boys.

So, you've asked, and finally I deliver...some. Had to buy a new usb cord for my camera so I could transfer my photos to the computer. Haven't taken pics of all of the rooms yet, and please excuse the clutter, as I haven't finished unpacking, decorating or organizing 100%. What's new? I can never figure out the layout tools to caption each photo individually, so follow the text in order of the pictures and you'll get the idea.

Florida Birds

I have never seen such a large collection of HUGE birds in one place before. We see the biggest birds every day. Hawks, eagles, cranes, vultures, you name it, if it's big it is here. Earlier this week as we were driving home we saw a big bird and were amazed and awed to get a closer look and realize it was a beautiful bald eagle. I don't think I have ever seen one in the wild before. It was glorious to watch. We also have a pair of sandhill cranes that live in our neighborhood. They make the loudest noise that we all love to try and imitate. The boys like to chase them and I like to yell at them to knock it off. I've heard they get aggressive when they have babies with them. You can't tell from the picture, but they are about 4 feet tall and very pretty.

Why I Never Want to Forget

I find it hard to believe that today marks the 7th anniversary of the Sept. 11th attacks on our country. I can remember that morning so vividly. I can remember watching in horror as the 2nd plane struck, live on air. I remember holding my 6 week old baby, Jacob, and wondering what kind of world I had brought him into. I will never forget the sound of bodies hitting the pavement/roofs as people chose to jump from the towers instead of burn. I will never forget the brave men and women who rushed into the buildings to help, only to become victims of the attack themselves. I will never forget the horror on Kyrie's and Kade's face as they rushed off of the bus home from school fearing that planes would be attacking their home next. I will never forget learning about the brave men and women on United flight 93 who gave their lives to keep another plane from becoming a weapon of destruction. I will never forget calling my parents to tell them what was happening and my dad saying, "we'll be going into Afghanistan over this." I was clueless. He was so right.

I am thankful every day to President Bush for keeping our country safe for the past 7 years. I have no doubt that more planned attacks have been thwarted and kept quiet. I really believe that if the general public knew the true threat level to our country we would all be too scared to leave our homes. I hate that our President has been made a villain because of this and other events out of his control. Whatever his failings may be, he handled this situation right. War is never an easy process, but fighting evil and maintaining our freedoms is worth it. This youtube post tells it all. Please take the time to watch it. To all those who think we shouldn't see the footage of 9/11 on TV, who think it is too painful, or disrespectful, I couldn't disagree more. We need to remember, to see, to feel, to never forget so we can keep it from happening again.

Walking on Broken Glass

Before we headed out last night, I was trying to clean up the kitchen a little bit. I usually have very quick reflexes and have been known to frequently catch falling objects off of the counters before they hit the ground. I've even caught cups full of drinks without spilling a drop. Not so lucky last night. I accidentally knocked off a large glass skillet cover and lunged forward to grab it, but missed. My forward momentum carried me forward a step right onto the broken glass. Nothing like lodging a piece of shrapnel into the foot. Dr. Foster insisted I'd be okay without a stitch, and put some liquid bandaid that we had on it and taped it up. When we got home I had to remove the tape because it was rolling and sticking to everything. Guess what? I have a gash in the bottom of my foot that is KILLING me when I walk and it is a small gap that isn't closed. The deeper part did seal, but maybe I should sue?

Just for John

Wade and I went out to eat tonight. On the way home I "forced" him to go into Pier One with me to see what was on sale. Low and behold, I walk in to the back clearance section and there is a king sized footboard on sale from $299 to $28.99. Yes, that's right $28.99, undamaged, in packaging looking new and so pretty. They didn't have the headboard, but the store in Tampa does and it is on sale for $229.00. So, Chris got a new headboard/footboard for her new king sized mattress. Wow. I didn't see that coming. To make it even more priceless, there was a cool weaved basket, much like you see the snake charmers in India using (is that where the cobra snake charmers are?) and it was THE SAME PRICE as the footboard. Normal price $100.00. Basket and footboard for the same price. How often does that happen?

Palin's Political Passion

After watching Sarah Palin's amazingly delivered, whitty, and promising speech, I'm even more impressed with her. What hit me the most? She appeals to the common man/woman of America, the backbone of our country, the people who make this country what it is. She appeals to the blue collar worker, the NASCAR fan, the small business owner, the mom's whose children risk it all to protect our freedoms. She IS what America is all about. She is the heartland and she gets it. After reading Gloria Steinem's reasons for not liking her, I like her even more. Her response is once again what I blogged about last. Liberal feminists who feel threatened by a down to earth woman who would rather have a child, be a mom, and work. They are scared because suddenly there is a woman out there who has it all. Someone who is what they have been arguing women should be for years is finally here on the political scene appealing to women who live in reality. A woman who is a woman, not a woman wanting to be a man.

You Make Me SICK

First I just want to say that in my last post I in no way wanted to diminish the accomplishments of moms who work outside of the home. I have many friends who have worked while raising their kids and have done a fine job. However, something along the way still suffers at some point. One could argue that Palin's teenage daughter's pregnancy could be an example of this. Which would not make much sense because I'm certain it has happened in families where the mom didn't work outside of the home. It comes down to personal responsibility. But, what dynamics were changed by her not being home more? Who knows. I think she is an accomplished woman and I like her political views. Her speech was excellent and you know Hillary has to be spitting nails knowing that she will not be the first women Pres or VP in the White House. Women everywhere should be able to find a champion in Palin, but no. Not those left wing blogging nut jobs who find conspiracy in everything. For these hypocrits to claim that Palin was never pregnant, that she claimed to have her last baby to cover for her teenage daughter is ludicrous. For Colmes of Hannity and Colmes fame to blog suggesting that it is her fault that her son has down's syndrome is asinine. For women libers out there who want women in the workplace and power positions to not come to Palin's defense is inexcusable.

I suppose if her daughter was to have an abortion and marry a her lesbian lover they would start clapping for joy and climb onto the Palin bandwagon. But have someone make a choice for life and marriage in an already difficult situation and they sit idly by on their hands while their backers and supporters throw about defamatory stories and lies about someone they should champion.
