Edward, Emmett and Jacob....OH MY!!

I'm lame...I know...almost 40 and in love with a fictional vampire named Edward. Sigh. I can't wait for the New Moon movie to come out. It looks like it will be so much better than Twilight. Maybe with the exception of Kristen Stewart. I just don't think she is that great of an actress. Her constant blinking, open mouth, and head shaking drove me insane during the Twilight movie. Who knows? Maybe she has improved her skills. In the meantime here are some awesome pics. ENJOY!!

A Holy Roller visits Fast and Testimony Meeting

Yep. And throughout the entire meeting (she was sitting near the back next to the door) she was holding up paintings. Paintings such as a silhouette of a woman with an owl looking bird above her head and some type of evil looking dog by her feet. How about the one of the spirit of the Everglades or the evil looking Christ? Think I'm making this up? Wade actually raced of to the missionaries' rescue and went and sat next to her. He suggested to her that she could show everyone her painting after the meeting was over.

Since I was sitting in the very back and didn't bare my testimony, I didn't see said paintings. But I talked with my friend, the chorister, and she filled me in. Even on the woman's gesticulating during the closing song.

This definitely ranks right up there with the homeless make getting naked and washing in the sink in the men's restroom.

More on H1N1

You know how I feel about this vaccine...and here is a Dr. saying he has more concern about the vaccine than he does the flu...good enough for me.

I should add...the majority of my friends in Alabama have had H1N1 go through their families. It has been very mild and not harmful to otherwise healthy people.

Mirror, Mirror, on the Wall...

I've had two hits in two days. No, not being hit on, nor being hit in my car....but drive by "OH MY GOODNESS DO YOU NOT HAVE A MIRROR?" hits.

Yesterday at the gym, this short (and a bit rotund) older woman walked by me...IN HER BRA AND TIGHTS. No, not a sports bra and exercise/spandex tights, but a regular old bra and what looked like thick panty-hose type tights. Another woman walking behind her and I made eye contact and we both couldn't help it...we burst out laughing. "Wow," I said, "that is her bra. Not a sports bra...her bra." "I KNOW!! I can't help but wonder if people don't have mirrors anymore." Now...keep in mind. This is a co-ed club, we were NOT, I repeat, we were NOT in the locker room. We were in the main exercise lobby with men and women and YIKES...my 3 year old with me. Of course, he didn't notice anything as his eyes were glued to the TV that was playing Pirates of the Caribbean 2 (BTW, did you know Pirates 4: On Stranger Tides has been announced with a release date of sumemr 2011? YES...more Captain Jack. MMMM....I like Captain Jack Sparrow.)

Today at Disney...just on our way to, you guessed it, the Pirates of the Caribbean ride...I was hit again (and once again my 3 year old was with me. Hmmmm. Maybe he is the jinx?) This time by a foreigner, a very lovely lady (well lady of the night might be more appropriate here)walking, hand in hand with her poor kids, wearing a tight tank top...really not too bad...with Daisy Duke shorts that allowed a full 1/2 of her butt cheeks to hang out, along with showing off her cottage cheese legs. Now, not to knock cottage cheese on the legs because, come on, I know we all get it at some point...but really...can you not cover it some? Let alone allowing the butt cheeks to hang out at a FAMILY resort.

So, mirror, mirror, on the wall...who is the fairest of them all?

Here in America: In God We Still Trust

I've been very overwhelmed by my kids of late. I'm sure it boiled over with my trip alone with them last week. Ever have one of those days where you don't want to be a mom anymore? I've had several in a row. Don't get me wrong. I love my kids, but man, I'm really tired of them lately.

Last night I really needed something to read. So, I picked up volume 1 of The Great and Terrible. If you haven't read these books I can't recommend them enough. I found out about them over spring break while visiting my family and read all 6 that week. While most are too sacred to post on a public blog, I will just say that I have had many very spiritual experiences that are eerily similar to what the author writes about in this series.

Last night as I was reading I was reminded of the many times I have put my children to bed and gazed in awe and wonder at them. What is their mission here on this earth? Why were they sent to me? What does our Father in Heaven have planned for them? Looking upon them I know they are greater than me. All at once I see both the child and man or woman they will become and I am amazed. Truly the "Great Ones" have been saved for this day and time.

"These were the Great Ones--the valiant children of God! Looking upon them, he saw the strength of their souls. Another shudder ran through him. So the Great Ones were here. And they were seeking out each other so that they could fight him as one.
As he gazed upon these valiant spirits who had been saved for this day, he realized with a fury that they were not afraid. They knew who they were and what they had done. And because of that knowledge, they had no fear!
...He recognized these warriors; he knew every single one. He knew their names and their faces and the things they had done. He remembered specific acts of courage and their defiance of his commands. Everything he had dreamed of, everything he had desired, had been ripped from his fingers because of what these had done.
So the battle wasn't over. They had come to fight him again.
...He laughed in his anger. He was ready for them. He was more powerful! Let them come with their Great Ones. He was Terrible now.
The Great and the Terrible had assembled.
Let the battle begin." (The Great and Terrible: The Brothers by Christ Stewart pg.208)

And so, I know I need to love them, teach them truths and help them develop their characters. In short, help them grow into valiant warriors of God. (Not literally warriors, but those who will stand for truth and righteousness no matter what) I really needed that reminder last night.

Make no mistake. There is a battle raging between good and evil, freedom and tyranny, and here in our country, it seems the right side is losing ground. We cannot pray in public at school events for fear of offending someone; we have a POTUS who says we are no longer a Christian nation; we don't have the right to withdraw our children from public school indoctrination we don't agree with (ie homosexual lifestyle). September 12, 2009 The Great Tea Party March on DC

(EDIT Picture has disappeared because it might not be from the 9-12 march. Oh the joys of internet info....)

We did it. We survived our trip to DC. Me, just barely and only with a small shred of sanity left. Why did I ever think taking all 4 kids by myself on such a journey would be a good thing?

We arrived in DC early Thurs afternoon. Checked into our hotel and headed out to visit the Washington Monument, the WWII Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Korean War Memorial, and the White House. My kids being who they are did a "we came, we saw, we took a few pictures" type of tour. They did ask some questions about each place, but if they had had to sit and listen to a tour guide giving the history of each place we would've been in trouble. We saw the Presidential motorcade zip by, and ran into some feisty ladies who were there for Sat's events. By the end of the day, we were very tired, our legs and feet were aching, and we all fell asleep quite early.

Friday we spent the day at Mount Vernon, where the children were so awful to one another and me that I thought I would burst into tears on several occasions, and then headed Arlington Cemetery. We did get to experience the DC Metro and a taxi cab ride too. The boys were entranced by the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers. Daniel still clicks his heels together imitating them. I decided a walk home across the bridge into DC would be fun. On the way we stopped at the Vietnam Wall. We feel into bed absolutely exhausted again that night with many complaints of why do we have to walk everywhere?

Saturday morning came. We had planned on getting out to Freedom Plaza at 8:30am, but were 1/2 hour late. By the time we got there it was already PACKED. There were already thousands and thousands of people there. The state of Florida and those representing FL actually got to lead the march. There were so many people that the march started 1 1/2 hours early. We headed down Pennsylvania Ave. towards Capitol Hill. The street was completely packed with people. It took about an hour to walk the distance. We sat and listened to the speakers for about an hour, then turned to head back. 3 hours after the march started, the street was still packed to capacity with people coming to Capitol Hill. The entire Capitol lawn, the mall, the street, side streets, Penn Ave and the area from Capitol Hill to the Washington Monument was packed full of people showing their dislike for what the fed's and White House have been doing.

Don't believe any report you hear that says "tens of thousands". It has been estimated by the park service and others that there were approximately 1.5 to 2 million people in attendance. It was historical. People from all walks, ages, and all 50 states of our great country were there. People from all cultures and races united in letting the gov't know enough is enough already.

We had a quick nap, had lunch, then headed to the Holocaust Museum. As we left the museum we saw Marine One (POTUS helicopter) landing at the White House. It took all of the restraint I had not to send a fine middle finger salute to the occupants.

Sunday morning we went to the National Aquarium (which we all agreed was the "lamest" aquarium we have been to) and then went to the Natural History Museum of the Smithsonian. Finally something that the kids all enjoyed. The boys especially were enthralled by the bug exhibit. Jacob held a hissing cockroach, Dan a tobacco worm, and we all really enjoyed going into the butterfly exhibit. I had an extremely large owl butterfly land on the back of my leg. He didn't seem interested in leaving. Finally it was time to say good-bye to DC. We headed back to the hotel for our shuttle to the airport. Remind me to NEVER fly through Dulles again. Kyrie especially took to the Asian woman in line behind her who kept pushing and shoving with "no regards to personal space" as Kyrie put it. If you knew our friend Tracy Ford (BIG guy) who traveled to China frequently for work, and his stories about their issues with too much space in any line, you would know why I was laughing so much at her.

I know I keep saying I'll post pics from way back in June. Obviously I am a bit behind on that. I just hate having to load one at a time. I've tried to install smilebox but have an issue with my firewall allowing access. So, once I figure out a different slide show that I can add, I promise I'll get all of our pics from the summer loaded.

Obama to Address ALL Public School Students Sept 8th

That's right. The man who claims to be POTUS will be further attempting to indoctrinate your children on Sept. 8th. May be a good day to be suffering from the swine flu.

http://www.docstoc.com/docs/10582301/President-Obama’s-Address-to-Students-Across-America-September-8-2009

According to the release, your children should be able to ask the teacher questions about POTUS. Of course, the questions are scripted as to be specific to what they want your child to come away with, but I think they should be able to ask their own questions. If you are going to force your child to sit through this, might I suggest a question for him/her to ask?!! How about, "why hasn't Obama produced a valid birth certificate showing he is eligible to be POTUS?" Or how about, "Why has Obama taken unprecedented steps to put czars into positions of power disregarding our Constitution?" Wow. I could come up with many other good ones but I'm sure you can to. Please feel free to add your questions to the comments.

BTW, did you notice the question, "what is the President asking me to do?" Another BIG WOW. Exactly my thought. What the hell is he asking our CHILDREN to do and why in the hell does he think he has the right to address them, our CHILDREN. I think we all know the nefarious answer to that.
